Linda Raschke — a Woman’s Success Story in Stock Trading.
Linda Bradford Raschke is the only woman who has always been mentioned along with the legends of exchange trading for more than 35 years, and several generations of traders have grown on her books.
Linda was born in 1959 in Pasadena, California (USA). Her father was engaged in trading, so she lived in the world of quotes and stock terms since childhood. This determined her whole life: the girl always wanted to trade on the exchange.
While studying at Occidental College at the Faculty of Economics, Linda first tries herself in trading: she takes part in regular training trading rallies organized by an unknown investor for students. Raschke traded in the company of four classmates on one account, and the final decision was made by voting. From this experience, Linda learned that stock trading is extremely interesting. So Raschke strengthened her decision to connect her life with trading.
Character is fate
After graduating from college in 1980, she goes to San Francisco, where she sequentially goes around all the brokerage houses in the city — and also consistently receives rejection everywhere, because she had no real trading experience. As a result, she manages to get a financial analyst at Crown Zellerbach Pulp and Paper Corporation.
Nevertheless, already in 1981, Linda manages to become a trader in the trading floor of the Pacific Exchange (in the slang — “pit”), and three years later — in Philadelphia. So she worked for 6 years, gaining experience, honing her skills and becoming a fairly successful trader.
From pit magic to technology
In 1986, due to an injury, she switched to remote trading from her home office using the Quotron electronic terminal, a simple electronic device that broadcasts stock quotes accurate to the minute. For almost a year, Linda successfully traded this data from home. It was then that the first computer trading systems began to appear, and Linda decided to try advanced working methods. Communication with technology led to a three-month drawdown, but Raschke managed.
In 1992, Linda received the license of Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) and establishes her own company LBR Group (the company has now been abolished). At this time, recognition, fame and popularity came to her. Throughout the 90s, she manages the funds of various funds, writes books on trading, actively speaks and teaches.
In the 90s, Linda Raschke devoted much time to public and popularizing work: she served on the board of directors of the Market Technicians ’Association, cmtassociation.org and was president of the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts.
In 2002, Linda Raschke launches her own hedge fund, the Granat Fund LLS, which was later included in the top twenty (according to Barklays Hedge). To manage the fund, she receives a special manager license — CPO (Commodity Pool Operator). At the end of 2014, the work of the fund was stopped.
In 2015, Linda Raschke officially ceased her activities as a trading adviser and manager. She does not conduct any active work, except for private trading on her own account. Linda lives in Chicago, she is married to trader Damon Pavlthos and has a daughter Erica, who works as a financial adviser at UBS.
Linda is a supporter of strict discipline and continuous self-education. She urges all traders to keep a diary and record transactions, to analyze them afterwards.
Linda, as a professional, recorded all of her experience gained over a long trading life in the form of books and training courses. She was able to transfer her knowledge to thousands of followers around the world facing the modern trading.
